Recently, the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) announced the recruitment of 506 Assistant Commandants (AC) in different paramilitary forces such as BSF, CAPF, CISF, ITBP, & SSB in India. If interested, one can apply as of April 24, 2024, and the application should be received on or before May 14, 2024. You must be sure of fulfilling the application conditions that have been set by the recruiting body.

The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has announced the recruitment of CAPF Assistant Commandants, offering a total of 506 vacancies. Aspiring candidates can apply for these positions online, with the application window opening on April 24, 2024, and closing on May 14, 2024.

UPSC CAPF Exam Eligibility Criteria

• Nationality: Candidates applying must be citizens of India.
• Educational Qualification: Applicants must hold a Bachelor’s Degree from a recognized university.
• Age Limit: Candidates should be at least 20 years old and must not exceed 25 years old as of August 1, 2024. 

The UPSC provides age relaxation based on the candidate’s category, as outlined below:

• OBC (Other Backward Classes): Up to 3 years.
• SC/ST (Scheduled Castes/Scheduled Tribes): Up to 5 years.
• Ex-Servicemen: Up to 5 years.
• Central Government Civilian Employees: Up to 5 years.
• Candidates domiciled in the State of Jammu & Kashmir during the period from January 1, 1980, to December 31, 1989: Up to 5 years.
• Candidates affected by the 1984 riots: Up to 5 years.

UPSC CAPF Exam Dates: 2024

The key dates for the CAPF Assistant Commandants recruitment registration are provided to help candidates comprehend the process easily. Registration Fee: 

While SC, ST, and female candidates do not need to pay, other categories need to pay ₹200 for registration. The commission accepts payments online through net banking, debit cards, credit cards, or any other payment mode. Also, it is to be noted that once paid, the registration fee cannot be refunded.

UPSC CAPF Exam 2024: Vacancy And Classification

According to the official notification, the vacancies are classified based on the paramilitary forces, including CISF, BSF, SSB, CAPF, and ITBP:

• BSF: 186 vacancies
• CAPF: 120 vacancies
• CISF: 100 vacancies
• ITBP: 58 vacancies
• SSB: 42 vacancies

Total: 506 vacancies

UPSC CAPF Syllabus

The UPSC has set a syllabus that consists of two papers for the CAPF Assistant Commandant (AC) examinations. The syllabus is set for the recruitment of various posts of Assistant Commandants in various Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs) of India, such as the CRPF and ITBP. 

The syllabus covers two papers, which are: 

Paper 1 and Paper 2.

• Paper 1 consists of objective-type questions that will come on topics like general ability, general science, current affairs, Indian politics, Indian history, and India & world geography. 
• Paper 2 tests candidates on the basis of their writing and comprehension skills through essay writing, comprehension passages, and precis writing. Both papers are designed to assess the candidate’s knowledge and understanding of comprehensive tasks and communication abilities.
